I have been meaning to copy this conversion for YEARS now, but still haven't gotten around to it. I come back around for the realization that Long Fang D-Pods perfectly complement 6th edition tau, but that I do not want to use space marines in my army for fluff reasons. These are perfect counts-as long fangs.
Fantastic conversion work! It's really nice to see a bit of life injected into the dying fluff of 40K. I really miss the GW old days when it seemed like gameplay came second to story, rather than the other way around. Remember the days before White Dwarf was just a glorified catalogue, and there were actually interesting articles and story sections?
It's a real shame that they're putting less emphasis on what was such an incredibly rich storyline
I also like that about the Tau. I've been considering building a new army and this may be the inspiration I needed The Demiurg are meant to be the race that gave the Tau their Ion Technology -what about a Demiurg tank proxying as a Hammerhead?
Must say that I like these conversions. Top notch! And Ive also been thinking exactly the same. I miss old armies from Rogue Trader and Second Edition. Beastmen is one of them, Squats another one, and Genestealer Cult Coven (Hybrids) a third
The idea that Tau could have "incorporated" beastmen and squats (demiurg) is a valiable idea, and I also have done stuff around this. Did a Squat/Demiurg Codex for 3-4th Ed WH40k. I also did a Cult Coven Codex, and a Creatures of the Galaxy Codex (With various Beastmen and other WH40K rare but spoken about creatures).
But, the last 3-4 years, I havnt done much with it. WH40K seems to be more plastic, silly, simple and expensive for each edition and year. So I've lost interrest in the "pure" game, but still fantasies and play stuff with "houserules" "fanwork" and "for fun" ... Nostalgia
That is the way I feel about 40k too. it's just become too much about having massive armies and rolling tonnes of dice and not enough about the character and customisation of your armies for me anymore. I am far more interested in skirmish games now like "In the Emperors name" and "Deathsquads".
I'm glad you like my conversions a lot of effort went into them when I was fasinated with the idea of Tau as a collective of races rather than a singular one. I thought that ellement of them made them perfect for the converter who likes a uniform looking army (e.g unlike orcs).
The present rumours suggest ever more variable units for the Tau with a supposed 2nd Vespid unit and 2 Demiurg units added to the Dex which could actually make me buy more GW figures lol.
Cheers and I expect I will be back once my gamers ADD decides it's had enough of fantasy (or some cool scifi figures come out that I ahve to own), but for now I'm trying to get my MODheim projects finished!
